Mickey has extracted an old fuel tank from the bilge of a Blackfin 29, with Doug assisting by crane. A new aluminum tank will be fabricated this winter. Once complete, it will be dropped in place, secured, and reconnected.
Fuel tank replacement proved necessary after the boat began to present with a constistent history of fuel leakage. The culprit? Blown-in foam! Over time, the material had created an environment around the tank conducive to metal rot.
