The research vessel BOWDITCH, from Bigelow Labs, is visiting Safe Harbor Great Island this week. This is their second visit in as many years. While here, the crew is working with Bowdoin College students, gathering and analyzing water column samples from the Kennebec River, Quahog Bay, and surrounding waters. For their next assignment, the r/v BOWDITCH will steam, non-stop, halfway across the Gulf of Maine and back. The team will be processing ocean water using yet another highly technical tool for analysis. It’s nice to know Maine waters are receiving such good attention.
