Rewiring an older boat requires patience and attention to detail. First, abandoned wires must be identified, traced, and deleted. Once the old material is extracted, new wire is more easily snaked through the boat and organized at the terminals. Updating a boat’s wiring to current ABYC specifications not only creates space for the addition of other new systems but also reduces the risk of fire, particularly on older boats. When our technician, Bobby, rewires a boat, his work is as much artistic expression as it is a demonstration of his technical know-how.
