Another teak deck repair job is in the works at GIBY, this time aboard a Grand Banks Eastbay 42. While the helm deck is already complete, the side and foredecks are still in process.
For this project, a few planks are being replaced, but most are simply being refastened and rebungged. Where necessary, deck seams are also being recaulked. Once the prep is done, the decks will be hard sanded to a smooth, fresh wood finish.
The winter worklist on this boat is extensive and will go well beyond cosmetics to engines, systems, and creature comforts as well.
Work will include servicing the CAT engines and changing out hoses; inpecting the integrity of the holding tank and replacing associated plumbing; installing a swim ladder grab rail; replacing a leaky windshield gasket; installing new wiper motors and wiper arms/blades; and rebedding exterior handrails. With the addition of two new helm chairs, and a fresh applicaiton of varnish on all exterior brightwork, this boat will soon be looking like new!
