Stainless steel handrails, custom fabricated for a Hunt 36, were installed this week. John G sculpted the rails, in-house, giving careful consideration to both form and function. Form came naturally, thanks to John’s artistic eye. But function was more of a challenge. Faced with inadequate mounting surfaces where the rails were to be located, John devised a way to snake messengers and backing plates inside the overhangs of the boat’s finished hardtop. By injecting Plexus from the outside, and using sacrificial wires to clamp down on each plate, John was able to turn previously hollow spaces into rugged mounting surfaces. Now the boat is equipped with handsome, low maintenance, and reliable grab rails, port and starboard.
