Recently, Doug, one of GIBY’s riggers, and Steve Rowe, GIBY co-owner as well as service manager for the s/v NARNIA, test sailed a new asymmetrical cruising chute with the boat owners. An asymmetrical is useful on cruising yachts – like this Great Island Custom Offshore 38 – because ease of handling is so important with a crew of two!
With this design, the sail is flown from NARNIA’s sprit. The sail handling is more manageable than a spinnaker, in large part because it does not require use of a spin pole.
