This year, Safe Harbor Great Island became home base to a Fire & Rescue boat, donated anonymously to the Town of Harpswell. In addition, the marina was equipped with a “standing pipe” fire suppression system. Now, in the event of a marina fire, a pump truck will be able to connect to a single pipe at the head of the docks and deliver water directly to “hydrants” at each T-head. This will eliminate the need to run fire hoses great lengths and save critical time during an emergency response.
