Several spars are being refinished in the GIBY Paint Bay this winter. An Oyster 53, Mason 54, and Alden 44 are all in the mix.The Oyster 53 project rolled out of the shop just last week with some additional detailing – “racing” stripes on the mast, and the vessel name on the boom. Now back in the Rig Shop, the boom is being reassembled and the sporty mast is being fitted with all new standing rigging!
Because GIBY riggers discovered failed bearings in the mechanical backstay tensioner during the boat’s rig inspection, this element is being replaced with a Seldan integral adjuster.
