A bowsprit modification on a Cape Dory 36 was recently conceptualized by members of GIBY’s rigging and carpentry departments. Doug and Matt M worked together to design a safe and secure way for the boat owner to carry a second CQR anchor on the bowsprit. Once the layout was agreed upon, Matt fabricated a mounting block to which they secured a side roller to the sprit’s outboard edge. This simple alteration provides a fair lead for the second rode, and ample room for the anchor flukes to nest side by side.
