Have you ever thought about sailing in the Newport Bermuda Race? Here’s an introduction to the event, and a look at what’s required of participants. The safety video found within this link features GIBY member, Mark Lenci, who will enter his boat in its second Newport Bermuda Race this season. Mark serves as a race organizer and leads a series of Safety at Sea courses sponsored by The Cruising Club of America. His boat, an Oceanis 52 called SUNFLOWER, is among those that GIBY will help to prepare for the 2020 event. Other boats that GIBY will prepare for the race, and for which our team will provide the requisite certified inspections, include a Spirit 46 and an F & C 44.

In this year’s Newport Bermuda Race, with a refinished “racer-cruiser” bottom and a few new sails, Mark’s crew is hoping to best their own respectable 3rd place (cruising division) finish in the 2019 Marion Bermuda Race.
