Refit work continues on a classic Alden 47.
The garboard (the lowest plank fastened to the keel) has been pulled, providing access to frames that are fastened to the horntimber; and a few punky planks have been pulled from the hull.
These planks are now being replaced, as new frames are steam-bent, refastened, and rebungged.
To keep the hull from drying out during the refit process, the GIBY crew has setup a nice humid micro-climate for the boat. To maintain this environment, a plastic tent hangs from the boat’s waterline and a mister runs nightly.
