A Little Harbor 53 is undergoing a Phase I refit this winter. Today, a new Yanmar engine and Northern Lights generator were craned aboard and lowered into the cabin. Once below, the crew utilized plywood ramps and strips of Delrin to slide the generator into place. Its new perch, custom fabricated by our fiberglass team, is designed to accommodate the longer footprint of the new gen set. Next, the 110 hp, 4-cylinder Yanmar will be moved onto its new motor mounts, just forward of the generator. This engine will replace an old 6-cylinder Westerbeke, providing the same power in a slightly smaller package.
