Cutting open a Little Harbor 60 to extract one engine and insert another was the option of last resort for a winter repower. After puzzling over whether or not the work could be done in a non-invasive manner, our team decided they could work a bit of magic. The engine was drained of fluids, raised, suspended mid-air, rotated and removed using a series of strategically placed straps, chains, and come-along devices. With care and patience, the old 145 hp Lugger was successfully removed from its mounts. Now on end, the engine is ready to be extracted through an existing hatch. Next, the team will prepare the boat to receive a new Cummins 4BT.
